What is PRP hair restoration?
PRP — Platelet-Rich Plasma — is a regenerative injectable treatment that uses the concentrated growth factors from your own blood to reactivate dormant hair follicles and stimulate new hair growth.
A small blood sample is drawn, centrifuged to isolate the platelet-rich fraction, and carefully injected into areas of thinning. The growth factors trigger cellular regeneration — improving follicle function, increasing hair density, and strengthening existing strands over time.

Patient Story · Alopecia Areata
Platelet-rich plasma
We are so grateful for our patient who has let us share his story. This patient has alopecia areata, where the immune system attacks the hair follicles. This leads to loss of hair — often in patches. It can be extremely difficult to treat. Whilst PRP isn't a cure, it has been shown in clinical studies to help promote hair regrowth.
A small blood sample is taken in clinic, then the plasma is separated through a centrifuge. We then inject back into the skin, in tiny boluses targeting the hair follicles. PRP floods the hair follicles with natural growth factors and cytokines from your own blood.
The growth factors then stimulate the hair follicles to heal and 'wake up', whilst also helping to reduce any further hair loss.

Consultation
Your doctor conducts a thorough scalp assessment and reviews your hair loss history, lifestyle and medical background to confirm PRP is appropriate.
Blood draw
A small amount of blood is taken from your arm — a straightforward, quick process performed in our clinical treatment room.
Centrifuge processing
Your blood is spun to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich plasma — typically 3–5x higher platelet concentration than whole blood.
Scalp injection
The PRP is carefully injected into targeted areas of thinning using fine needles. Topical anaesthetic ensures comfort throughout.
Recovery & review
Minimal downtime. Your doctor will schedule a follow-up to monitor progress and adjust your treatment plan if needed.

Safety & side effects
As PRP uses your own blood, allergic reactions are extremely rare. Mild scalp tenderness, temporary redness or minor swelling at injection sites may occur and resolve within 24–48 hours.

For patients who prefer a needle-free approach — or wish to amplify their results — we offer LaseMD Ultra hair restoration. This fractional laser creates thousands of microscopic channels in the scalp, which we pair with a concentrated topical growth-factor serum (KeraFactor) to deliver regenerative proteins directly to dormant follicles.
With no injections and minimal downtime, LaseMD Ultra is ideal for early thinning, scalp sensitivity, or as a powerful complement to your PRP course. A typical protocol is 3–5 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
